Beginning Monday, March 7, all branches of Trails Regional Library will move into COVID Level Two. Branches will continue to be open with full service, full staff, and regular hours.
The COVID Level Plan was approved in August 2021 by the Trails Regional Library Board of Trustees. Due to decreased cases in Johnson and Lafayette Counties, Director Jackie Hawes has made the decision to move library branches from Level Three to Level Two. This level still includes safety precautions without limiting access to library services.
The COVID Level Plan includes 5 color-coded levels that are specific to each branch location. Any future level changes will be communicated on posted signs outside every library building, on the library website, and will be shared with local news outlets for publication.
Even in the highest level (5), library service will be available on an appointment basis, and Curbside Service, Digital Resources, and 24/7 parking lot WiFi access will continue as normal.
This COVID Level plan reflects new library workflows established since the beginning of the pandemic. Mitigation strategies, including self-checkout machines, virtual program offerings, virtual technology assistance, and protective barriers around circulation desks, are now a fixture of library service and will allow the library to maintain a higher level of accessibility regardless of changes in the pandemic or other health crises.
