COVID Level to Decrease March 21

Beginning Monday, March 21, all branches of Trails Regional Library will move into COVID Level One, with fewer restrictions in place. Click here to view the Level One Plan.

The COVID Level Plan was approved in August 2021 by the Trails Regional Library Board of Trustees. Due to reduced cases in Johnson and Lafayette Counties, Director Jackie Hawes has made the decision to move library branches down to the lowest level. This level still includes safety precautions but drastically reduces restrictions in libraries.

The COVID Level Plan includes five color-coded levels specific to each branch location. Any future level changes will be communicated on posted signs outside every library building, on the library website, social media, and shared with local news outlets for publication.

Even in the highest level (5), library service will be available on an appointment basis, and Curbside Service, Digital Resources, and 24/7 parking lot WiFi access will continue as normal.

This COVID Level plan reflects new library workflows established since the pandemic’s beginning. Mitigation strategies, including self-checkout machines and protective barriers around circulation desks, are now a fixture of library service and will allow the library to maintain a higher level of accessibility regardless of changes in the pandemic or other health crises.
