New STEAM Kit Lending Program

September 13, 2022

Missouri Secretary of State John R. Ashcroft presents Trails Regional Library Concordia Branch Manager Debbie Kirchhoff and Director Jackie Hawes with the Missouri State Library’s LSTA STEM Kits Grant.

Trails Regional Library is pleased to announce that it has been awarded a grant in the amount of $12,358.50 from the Missouri State Library’s LSTA STEM Kits Grant. The Library used the funds to purchase a total of 85 STEAM kits: 17 kits for 5 Trails Regional Library branches to house. The STEAM kits are hands-on learning experiences for children and young adults.

“We are so excited for the chance to incorporate these types of learning opportunities to the communities through this grant program. These STEAM kits are a great addition to all of the wonderful resources that Trails Regional Library offers to all of its patrons,” said Library Director Jackie Hawes.

Trails Regional Library has the STEAM kits available for check-out and holds. Each patron is allowed only one STEAM kit check out at a time, but patrons may check out any of the kits or recheck them for multiple learning experiences.

Trails Regional Library hopes to increase learning opportunities for all ages through this STEAM Kit Lending Program. The STEAM kits have lessons in various areas: music, math, science, and engineering. Patrons can learn everything from nutrition and healthy eating to dinosaurs or geology.

Check out all 17 kits on the Trails Regional Library’s website, trailslibrary.org, or by visiting one of the nine branches today!

This project is supported by the Institute of Museum and Library Services under the provisions of the Library Services and Technology Act as administered by the Missouri State Library, a division of the Office of Secretary of State.
